Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) once known as Multiple Personality Disorder is a “¹severe form of dissociation, a mental process which produces a lack of connection in a person’s thoughts, memories, feelings, actions, or sense of identity.” It is characterized by the presence of more than one personality. Interestingly, there are striking similarities between accounts of spirit possession and the manifestations of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Those suffering from DID often experience detachment, loss of control and identity confusion including:
